Gabriel Wolff is a storyteller.
He draws inspiration from a life shaped by migration. Born in Dachau and raised between Munich and Jerusalem, his roots intertwine across generations spanning Eastern Europe, Jerusalem, and Germany. Immigrant experiences have deeply etched themselves into his identity.
At the age of five, Gabriel's journey with a calligraphy pen began, a passion that remains steadfast after 35 years. Hebrew letters have become his sanctuary, more than any city or culture ever managed to be. And yet, the subtle gap, the discrepancy between the local and the translocal narratives, an slight alienation, shine through.
Since age five, Gabriel drew letters in Jerusalem, then Rotterdam, then Buenos Aires, and since 2017 in Berlin. His works, primarily on paper and canvas, are frequently being exhibited across Europe, the US, Latin America, and Taiwan. Additionally, he founded Hebrew Tattoos, offering his calligraphic expertise to tell stories on Jewish skin. Over the past 15 years, Gabriel has drawn the tales of over 2000 Jews through this controversial art form.
In recent years, his artistic focus has delved into mysticism, channeling personal experiences rooted in the long standing Jewish tradition of Hebrew letters as portals to deeper understanding.
